At such a transitional period in one’s life, starting university studies can be a challenging time for some. Whether it’s due to being in an unfamiliar environment, away from home, or unforeseen academic or personal problems, everyone can use a helping hand sometimes.
We offer a range of support services to help make your transition to university as seamless and stress-free as possible, and to assist with the development of a variety of academic and practical skills.
ECU’s counsellors have extensive experience, so you’re in very good hands. Whether it’s a problem you don’t feel like you can solve alone, or personal issues concerning settling in, accommodation difficulties, anxiety, family matters or homesickness, our counsellors are always available to chat. That’s because your health and wellbeing – physical, mental or emotional – always come first.
It’s important to note that counselling is not just for crises or serious issues. It’s a safe space for you to share your thoughts and emotions, seek out advice, or get a new perspective that can help clarify your concerns. We always encourage our students to reach out for support when they need it, which is why the service is free and fully confidential.
There’s more to university than just grades, but it’s important not to let a simple study skill get in the way of reaching your academic potential. With study support, we’ll help you develop those skills that are essential to succeeding in university, and in life after it.
Through online tutorials, peer mentors and appointments with university staff, you can get all the help you need with:
